Manuel Francisco Sousa is devoted mainly to developing personal photography projects, usually engaging with portraits and documentary, but also branches out his activities to commercial photography assignments (specializing in advertising, portraiture, fashion and editorial).
His education was multi-disciplinary, having studied music, art history, photography and visual studies, and obtaining his MA in Visual culture, specializing in Photography studies, from Escola Superior de Design (IADE, Lisbon).
He was born, currently lives, and is based in Lisbon, but can frequently be found travelling throughout all of Europe and Brazil.
His current interests lie in the relationships between image, the photographic medium and identity, as representation and performance.
