Marie-Christine Schrijen, born in 1941 in Brussels, is a French photographer, from Dutch origin, who lives in the Gard. Founder of the Vivaphot Laboratory, she has carried out activities like professional photography from 1970 to 2004 in Montpellier. Since 2004 she has devoted herself exclusively to artistic creation. Her silver halide photographs in black and white, processed by herself, can get very personal effects belonging to a fantastic vision. The interpicturality of her photographic work is present through a dual approach, in the series of landscapes as well as in that of the stone heads eroded by time, relevant to phantasmagoria. She has completed various artist books with writers such as Pierre-André Benoit, Michel Butor, Régine Detambel, Michaël Glück, Eugène Guillevic, Benoît Lecoq, René Pons, Gaston Puel, Christian Skimao, Bernard Teulon-Nouailles, etc. As for her solo shows, we note the Carré d'Art (Foster Wall) in Nîmes in 2007, the Europ'Art gallery in Aigues-Mortes in 2008, in Aubais in 2009 as part of the event "When odalisques are large, become..." and finally at the Library of Uzès, and NegPos gallery in Nîmes, specializing in contemporary photography, in the year 2010.
